CORNISH PIRATES will launch their defence of the British & Irish Cup at tournament newcomers Currie.

The RFU Championship club lifted the inaugural trophy last month after beating Munster 23-14 at Camborne's Recreation Ground.

Next season they kick off at Malleny Park, home of Scottish Hydro Electric Premiership 1 champions Currie before hosting Leinster - a reverse of last season's fixture at Donnybrook.

Ballynahinch Rabbitohs secured the first ever Ulster Rugby League title on 3rd July against the impressive Enniskillen Redskins.

At the IRFU Council meeting recently in the Aviva Stadium the Hon. Treasurer Tom Grace reported that the Union had achieved a surplus of €1.7m for the season 2009/10, which is a slight reduction in the surplus reported at the end of the previous season.

Celtic Rugby has announced that it has secured a new television deal that will see terrestrial broadcasters BBC ALBA, BBC Northern Ireland, RTE and TG4 join its established partners BBC Wales and S4C in televising Magners League games next season.

Ashbourne Rugby Club Under 12 – Under-14 teams headed off on their merry way last Friday morning with an early start of 6.30am. The trip commenced from Ashbourne Rugby Club where we were met by two touring coaches, with kids (50 in total) very eager to set sail along with mentors and additional parents (32) to complete the party of 82.

It was announced today by the Six Nations that the 2011 RBS 6 Nations Championship will for the first time in the Championship's history kick off on a Friday on the 4th February with Wales v England in Cardiff. The Schedule was finalised with a view to showcasing this fantastic fixture and make this great Rugby occasion available to as many people as possible.
