Dan arrived in Ravenhill from Exeter Chiefs in July 2009 on a two year contract. And since arriving he has been a revelation in the Ulster jersey. He made his professional debut for Gloucester against London Irish in 2007 and picked up a man of the match award. Irish qualified, Dan has also represented Ireland U21 and to date has earned 11 Ulster caps. He brings a physical edge to his game operating like an extra backrow in the loose yet all the while doing the needful for a lock in the set piece.

Dan earned his first and second cap on the 2010 Ireland summer tour to New Zealand and Australia where he played against New Zealand on 12th June and Australia on 26th June
