What can you say about a man who, like a fine wine, just gets better with age. Whether playing for Bruff, Shannon, Munster, Ireland or the Lions, John ‘The Bull’ Hayes gives 110% every time. He has been involved with the Irish Senior setup for the best part of a decade. Although he started out at the age of 19 playing in the back row for Bruff RFC, a spell with Shannon and Invercargill in New Zealand saw him excel as a prop. He toured South Africa in 1998 with Ireland, but Hayes had to wait until 2000 to earn his first senior international cap against Scotland. A powerful scrummager with surprising agility considering his sheer physicality.

John started all of Ireland's 2009 Guinness Autumn Test Series against Australia, Fiji and South Africa and went on to start every game in the 2010 Six Nations campaign.
