92 Ireland Caps |
Malcolm brings a wealth of experience to the squad not least because with 92 caps, he is one of Ireland’s most capped player ever. Perhaps the secret to Mal’s success is his relaxed and chilled attitude away from the field. But when it comes to gametime, O’Kelly is the ultimate competitor. Born in Essex and educated at Templeogue College, Mal also holds a Masters Degree in Mathematics from Trinity College Dublin, so it would be fair to say he has both brain and brawn in abundance.
Making his international debut against New Zealand in 1997, Malcolm played the next 12 consecutive games for Ireland, firmly establishing himself in the Irish 2nd row. Malcolm also toured New Zealand in 2005 with the Lions but a recurrence of a groin injury cut short the Leinster locks participation. Currently in fine form for Leinster, Mal is playing every game like it’s his last.
