Robbie signed a full professional contract with Connacht in December 2012 after graduating from the Connacht academy. In March 2012 he captained his school Marist College, to their first Connacht Senior Cup. Blistering performances for the Athlone man in the Heineken Cup and RaboDirect Pro12 have earned him a call up to the Irish 2013 Six Nations squad.

Although he has played most of his rugby in the centre, when Gavin Duffy picked up an injury, Robbie moved seamlessly to fullback where his strike runs have excited the Connacht Clan each weekend.

Robbie has represented Ireland at U19 level and was part of the 2011 Ireland Schools team who were crowned FIRA-AER U18 European Champions following their final 17 - 8 win over England. An all-round sportsman, he has also played for the Westmeath minor footballers and represented his county in 2010 and 2011.
