Debut 2009 v Fiji |
A dynamic hooker, Sean’s career began to take off while playing in the AIB League for Shannon. Outings for Ireland A and two appearances for his home province of Munster saw him attract the attention of Connacht who offered him a contract. Clearly benefiting from the gametime at Connacht. He earned his first cap against Fiji in November 2009 and his second cap came as a replacement to Rory Best during the Ireland v Wales Six Nations game in March 2010.
When injury sidelined Best & Flannery, during the 2010 Autumn series, Cronin showed his worth playing in three of Irelands test games against Samoa, New Zealand and Argentina.
Sean signed a 2 year contract in January 2011 which will see him move to Leinster at the start of the 2011/12 season
